Arlington Children's Theater of Arlington, MA (Entertainment/theatre)

Arlington Children's Theater of Arlington, Massachusetts put on a production of Bye Bye Birdie. My friend's son was in it. The show was just delightful - all the children has SO much fun, and they showed so much talent! I highly recommend their shows, and the company for any children interested in theater.

New music post - Gary Chapman's Circles & Seasons!

I *finally* got this 2001 release! I am a huge Gary Chapman fan. His music is beautiful and powerful, and as he gets older he just gets more insightful and wise. This is a great cd. I'll update this post with a review asap, because I just LOVE this album for a million reasons!

The Disability Awareness Institute at Understanding Our Differences

There are some folks doing some great work in disability understanding and awareness, disability activism, and the study of disability history and culture. More and more universities offer disability studies, much as they would offer womens studies and gay studies. Now I think this should be so at EVERY university and that if a university isn't offering it, they're pretty lacking.

On of my favorite groups I've discovered more recently is The Disability Awareness Institute at Understanding Our Differences. They work with parents to provide education to the students in many communities, including Newton.

Like I said, children should learn about the disability rights movement, just as they do the womens rights movement, the civil rights movement for African Americans, and the gay rights movement. The Disability Rights and Independent Living Movement - University of California, Berkeley website is a great resource!

Bo Bice Says New Album Will Be Out In The Fall - Yahoo! News

Bo Bice Says New Album Will Be Out In The Fall - Yahoo! News

I love Google! I love the sounds of this album. Naturally, he will include members of his BAND from Alabama for a tour. Unlinke the *winner* of American Idol, this guy is a real musician, with the kind of ties artist develop with each other. Don't get me wrong, Carrie has a pretty voice and is sweet. She just is in a different league. I predict Bo will have more staying power. :-)

Here are some more Bo links:

Did I mention that if Bo didn't win, it should have been Anwar? Or Constantine?

New Hampshire Monte Carlo

My cousin works at New Hampshire Monte Carlo, a casino-hosting organization that hosts nights for charities. Now I absolutely cannot play poker...if you know me you know...I have the OPPOSITE of a poker face. ;-) But I wonder if he could get Annie Duke to come to one of his nights....and introduce me? ;-)
(That's the lovely lady herself, as she appears on the website linked above).

Arlington, MA town profile

Arlington, MA - My Home! (An "ePodunk" website...whatever that is ;-))

I was just looking for the phone number to the post office, and I stumbled on this site. I think it is an interesting profile of the town I call home. For my friends and family who have always lived outside Massachusetts, or those who have moved away, I thought it might be interesting to you. Some of the info. seems kind of pointless, but some tidbits are kinda cool...all depends on your p.o.v. I s'pose.

David Tucker - our wedding photographer! (Personal/weddding, Entertainment/Artsy links)

Photojournalistic Wedding Photography - Tucker Photography

July 11th was our seventh wedding anniversary. In addition to looking at our amazing photographs, I also checked out our video that my MIL's friend MaryAnn took. In it, you can see David Tucker at work. What an amazing artist and man. David captures so much more than "shots" at a wedding. He is concerned about so much more than "poses". David Tucker, somehow, manages to capture the Spirit, the Soul, and the emotions of people and moments in your special day.

We were so blessed to have David photograph our wedding. I noticed looking at his previous work that he captures emotions and moments, much more than any photographer I'd ever seen. But what I didn't realize was what a delightful addition his very presence would be to our day. David is a total romantic, in addition to being an amazing talent. And he uses this attribute to the FULLEST! In our video, we are reminded of how at ease he put us during staged shots. And how sweet he was to the children at our wedding. And just how totally excited he was for us. If it was possible, Davi'd enthusiasm got us MORE excited than we already were. :-)

During the wedding (from the video), you can see David ever-so-softly (but quickly! :-) creeping up behind a column or atop a bench to capture a special moment. After the ceremony, David even JUMPED up on TOP of an SUV to get a picture of us with all of our guests in front of the church! LOL! It was incredible - and so is the picture. I can't tell you how many people and specific moments I asked him ahead of time to try to capture. My husband was worried I was asking him to do more than any human possible could....but he was wrong! ;-)

I hope someone might come across this when googling wedding photographers or David's name, because I would wish for every couple that they could have David photograph their wedding!

Yay UCC! (Spiritual/Political/equality)

United Church of Christ - General Synod overwhelmingly calls for "full marriage equality"

This article calls the UCC church one "with roots deep in the soil of societal change". And as it also states, they took a GIANT leap foward on July 4th, when they passed a resolution in support of EQUAL marriage rights for ALL people! Yay!

For more information on the United Church of Christ, visit the UCC Homepage, where the church is described as such: a community of faith that seeks to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed. The UCC was founded in 1957 as the union of several different Christian traditions. From the beginning of our history, we were a church that affirmed the ideal that Christians did not always have to agree to live together in communion. Our motto — "that they may all be one" — is Jesus' prayer for the unity of the church. The UCC is one of the most diverse Christian churches in the U.S.
